Deaf-in-tech and Federal University, Lafia partnership
Landmark MoU: Deaf in Tech and Federal University of Lafia Partner to Launch Professional Master’s Degree in Disability Studies
In a groundbreaking step toward advancing academic inclusion and national capacity for disability leadership, Deaf in Tech has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA). This historic partnership will see the establishment of a Professional Master’s Degree in Disability Studies, hosted in Abuja through a hybrid learning model that blends physical and virtual classrooms.
Beyond a Degree: Building Pathways for Inclusion
While the MoU inaugurates a Professional Master’s Degree in Disability Studies, it also represents a broader institutional alliance to mainstream disability rights, technology, and opportunity.
Key highlights of the partnership include:
₦1 Million Academic Excellence Grant – Awarded to any Deaf student of FULAFIA who graduates with First Class honors.
Deaf in Tech Innovation Club – To be launched on campus, fostering tech skills transfer and career readiness for Deaf students.
Inclusive Digital Collaboration – Joint efforts to build WCAG-compliant systems, ensuring accessibility across FULAFIA’s digital infrastructure.
